The Government Buys A $493 Million Naval Tanker
The Government is going to buy a $493 million naval tanker. The ship will be custom-made ready to be used in Antarctic and it will also replace the 30-year- old HMNZS Endeavour. The new ship will be used to refuel naval vessels and helicopters at sea and to supply fuel and fresh water. The new vessel will be built by South Korean company Hyundai Heavy industries and is going to be delivered in 2020. This ship will be much larger than the HMNZS Endeavour.

lionel Messi retirement
Lionel Messi has announced that he has retired from international football. The news comes after Messi missed a penalty shootout for Argentina an the Copa America final after the team lost out to Chile 4-2 on penalties. Lionel Messi made his decision and said "I think it's best for everyone, for me and for many people who want it. The choice for me is over, it is a decision I tried many times to be a champion but it did not work out good." He has made it to four major finals with the Argentina national team but he has never taken home a trophy.

Snakes (Speech)
Last week my teacher chose 4 students to say their speeches in the finals this Friday. One of those 4 students was me! We had to make our speech at least 3 minutes long and lucky for me my speech was 3 minutes and 3 seconds. The topic that I chose for my speech is snakes. Why did I chose this topic? Well because i just thought of it in my head and also because my friend told me to do it. My favorite part in my speech is that the king cobra doesn't have the strongest poison in the world but one dose of their poison is enough to kill more than 20 humans or one Asian elephant!

Planting Our Garden
Last Wednesday some of us Room 11 students had to plant our garden. First our teacher gave us gloves then we dug holes for our new plants. Our teacher made sure our holes were lined up straight. Our native grasses and plants went in the holes I helped dig.
